Back in May of 2016, I started this blog with the hope to bring some light and encouragement to people in the midst of such a sometimes discouraging world. My intent was to post about a little bit of everything, incorporating many of my various interests to reach people and to have fun. After over a year of DIYS, recipes, random posts about my walk with God or marriage, I began to realize I was losing my vision for my blog. Seasons were rapidly changing in my personal life, and something just felt uninspiring about the direction my site was going.

After some soul searching, the Lord revealed His heart to me regarding this passion. It needs to be all about Him. I needed to strip away the “extra”, all the things I was doing to try to fit a mold. All the things I would write about that didn’t really add any value to anyone’s life or heart at the end of the day. The Lord was calling me back to the original heart I had for this blog. And He was reminding me that sometimes serving Him means going against the grain.

Eventually God gave me the name “Living to Flourish” and the direction for this website became clear. It needed to become about learning to draw near to the Lord. Learning what it means to delight in him. Soaking up this heart-scrubbing, soul-anchoring, mind-setting, relationship to abide in Jesus Christ and living to flourish in every area of life! As I walk through my faith, family, and friendships, I want to be saturated in the Word, equipped to face each season, learning about my sweet Savior and learning how to genuinely and effectively love others better.

My heart is to turn people’s hearts toward Christ. Life brings us all sorts of seasons; beauty and ashes. Hills and valleys. Highs and lows. I believe the Lord has so much to teach us if we choose to abide in the vine and walk with Him daily. His mercies are new every morning. He promises if we are planted by streams of living water, delighting in his Word, and abiding in Him, we will flourish. That’s what life is all about.

Psalm 1:1-3 says “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yield its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”

I want to be a tree that bears fruit to impact the kingdom of God. I want to encourage you to do the same. And as we walk through life together, and our roots are planted deeper in Christ, let’s choose to live to flourish rather than live to do anything else. Seek first the kingdom, and all these things will be added onto you.

I hope this blog brings a light to your day, something genuine and relatable where you can feel the life of Christ and walk about refreshed as you drink from the streams of living water. God is so good and He wants to fill our lives with good things. Let’s delight in Him together and discover his mercies everyday!

God bless,
